Billing Specialist
Responsibilities:
- Ensure reimbursement through efficient billing and collections operations and effective accounts receivable management.
- Ensure billing and patient accountrecords are updated in multiple EMR systems timely and accurately. Document all follow-up and necessary information in reference to the patient account.
- Work aged accounts receivables resubmit bills on overdue accounts and submit significantly delinquent accounts to supervisor for further collection.
- Gather collate and report key billing information to the Director of Revenue Cycle Management.
- Understand the billing information system and maintain comprehensive working knowledge including upgrades and enhancements.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with patients family memberspayorsand referral sources.
- Maintain comprehensive working knowledge of insurance company and authorization requirements.
- Has knowledge ofpayor contracts and ensurespayors are billed according to contract provisions.
- Protect the confidentiality of patient and organization information through effective controls and direct supervision of billing operations.
- Complete other tasks as required and designated by supervisor and/or administrator.
Qualifications:
- Minimum one (1) year of experience with billing processes prior authorizations and billing systems in home health/hospice.
- Knowledge of different insurance and HMO plans and ability to research complex issues.
- Working knowledge of insurance(s) for home health authorization and appeals requirements.
- Proficient level experience in Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook).
- Experience with HCHB EMR (preferred but not required).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
