DescriptionAbout the Role
We are seeking a dependable Maintenance Assistant to support weekend maintenance operations within Mount Royal University Residence. This role involves completing routine repairs and general upkeep to help ensure a safe comfortable and well-functioning living environment for students. The ideal candidate is able to work independently follow established procedures and respond effectively to a variety of maintenance needs. Physical capability attention to detail and a flexible problem-solving approach are essential.
Hours: Saturday and Sunday 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
*This position works weekends with possible shifts on every second Friday.
Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs within the university residence
Complete assigned work orders including basic plumbing drywall and painting tasks
Safely operate hand and power tools to carry out maintenance duties
Set up and work on ladders to complete maintenance tasks as required
Assist with snow removal and other seasonal maintenance activities
Identify maintenance concerns and report issues to residence or facilities staff
Qualifications
Ability to safely lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs
Comfortable working at heights and using ladders safely
Basic maintenance experience and mechanical aptitude
Familiarity with using hand and power tools (e.g. drills hand saws)
Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Must have a valid drivers license for occasional work-related travel if required
Physically able to work in varying conditions including outdoor winter tasks
Salary: $15.00 - $18.87 per hour
