Join Our Team as a Recovery Care Center Nurse. As a member of the interdisciplinary care team you will bring professional nursing knowledge and clinical expertise to the delivery and management of care for patients and their families. Nurses practice in an environment guided by the ANA Code of Ethics the UnityPoint Health Philosophy of Nursing and the Professional Nurse Practice Model collaborating closely with all caregivers. This position supports the Surgical Services team as needed and serves as a key member of the Float Pool.
The Recovery Care Center (RCC) is a 10-bed unit where patients are closely monitored overnight following a variety of surgical procedures including total joint replacements spine surgeries mastectomies thyroid procedures and urological surgeries. The team ensures patients safely recover from anesthesia manages post-operative pain and monitors for complications. Once patients are stable and meet discharge criteria staff provide detailed instructions to support a safe transition home. This department plays a critical role in bridging the gap between the operating room and home ensuring a smooth and safe recovery experience for every patient.

Responsibilities
Assess patient and family needs develop individualized care plans collaboratively with the healthcare team and provide education and referrals to ensure continuity of care.
Deliver high-quality holistic nursing care using the nursing process critical thinking and specialty-specific clinical skills in accordance with policies procedures and standards of care.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation to ensure a complete and legally sound patient record.
Delegate tasks and provide direction to other healthcare providers holding team members accountable for their role in patient care.
Promote patient and workplace safety by preventing errors accidents and infections and promptly reporting potential or actual concerns.
Uphold regulatory and organizational compliance maintain required licensure and certifications and demonstrate UnityPoint Health values in daily practice.
Qualifications
Education:
- Diploma from an RN program.
License(s)/Certification(s):
- Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in primary state.
- Must apply within 90 days for licensure in secondary state.
- Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Must possess and maintain ACLS
