THE ROLE

Based in our Geelong office this role supports the delivery of mechanical (HVAC) engineering services across a diverse range of projects. As a Mechanical Designer you will play a key role in producing high-quality design and documentation outcomes working closely with Mechanical Engineers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated buildable solutions. Your day will typically include:

• Producing high-quality mechanical (HVAC) design documentation including drawings layouts schedules and details
• Developing models and drawings in line with relevant standards codes and client requirements
• Supporting Mechanical Engineers with design development coordination and documentation across project stages
• Contributing to coordinated multidisciplinary design outcomes alongside electrical hydraulic structural and civil engineers to ensure integrated and practical solutions
• Assisting with technical reports calculations and design inputs that support informed decision-making and build client confidence
• Engaging with engineers and project partners to resolve design and coordination matters
• Working with peers across our national offices to share knowledge maintain design consistency and support best practice outcomes
• Continuing to develop your technical and professional capability through project exposure mentoring and collaboration

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE

As a key member of our Mechanical team you will contribute to the successful delivery of projects and the continued growth of HK Solutions. To succeed in this role you will bring:

• Established experience as a Mechanical Designer within building services / HVAC (3-6 years of experience is ideal however levels of experience outside of this range will be considered)
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems building services documentation and construction processes
• Sound working knowledge of Australian Standards and the National Construction Code (NCC) relevant to mechanical and HVAC systems
• Demonstrated experience in producing drawings models and supporting documentation for mechanical HVAC services
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for mechanical documentation and coordination
• Familiarity with mechanical/HVAC design tools and software such as CAMEL/HAP
• Ability to work both collaboratively and independently within a national multidisciplinary team environment
• Strong attention to detail and a practical approach to producing coordinated designs
• A continuous improvement mindset bringing fresh ideas to enhance mechanical design processes systems and outcomes
• Clear communication skills both written and verbal with confidence engaging with engineers consultants and project partners
• A team-oriented approach with the drive to contribute to a supportive high-performing culture

The following skills attributes will be highly regarded:

• Experience as a Mechanical Designer within the Australian/New Zealand market
• Experience working withing a consulting engineering environment
• Understanding of HVAC coordination within BIM workflows
