Main Purpose of Job

This positions primary responsibility involves oversight of servers computers printers network equipment enterprise software and cloud services throughout the Department of Human Services (DHS) statewide at 116 locations on both Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN). This position includes supervision strategic planning system integration cloud infrastructure management and ongoing maintenance of software and hardware infrastructure specifically including Windows operating systems for servers desktops and laptops as well as cloud-based platforms and services. The role also entails managing network communication applications such as Domain Name Syst (DNS) Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) along with monitoring network performance using management and diagnostic tools to ensure optimal efficiency. The position is responsible for Active Directory management performing system backups (both on-prem and in the cloud) archiving data and maintaining the disaster recovery site and cloud-based recovery solutions. This position generates and reviews reports development and maintenance of both technical and user documentation including cloud architecture and service documentation.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Performs Supervision of Core Duties: LAN activities in order to ensure access availability of files printers applications computing and network resources.
  • Installs configures maintains and supports servers computers network printers network hardware and software and enterprise software on the Local and Wide Area Networks (LAN/WAN) for the Department of Human Services statewide to support all 116 locations.
  • Responds to and resolves work orders (ticket system).
  • Analyzes facility readiness for site preparations as needed for installing computer hardware software and/or network cable connection according to the projects installation requirements for DHS Enterprise Network users.
  • Supervision of staff to ensure Customer Service.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:Four years and six months of experience three years ofexperience planning integrating and maintaining software and hardware for local or wide area computer networks and an additional eighteen months of experience converting data from project specifications by preparing program code using generallyaccepted computer programming languages or other developmental tools; planning installing and maintaining data communications network lines and devices; or evaluating implementing and maintaining computer hardware and software.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute graduation from an accreditedhigh school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and fifteen credit hours from an accredited college or university in systems analysis and applications programming using generally accepted computer programming languages or other developmental tools for the additional eighteen months of the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute completion of high school or high school equivalency certificate and completion of a certification program in Network Administration such as Certified Novell Administrator (CNA) Microsoft Certified Product Specialist NT 4.0 Administrator equivalent certification program for the additional eighteen months of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute experience in one of the following areas on a year-for-year basis for graduation from an accreditedhigh school or possession of a high school equivalency certificated: operating computer systems scheduling controlling input and output or maintaining backups or data storage processing data on computer systems evaluating implementing and maintaining computer hardware and software or converting data from project specifications by developing programs using generally accepted computer programming languages or other developmental tools.

4. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelors degree in computer information technology management information systems or other information technology related field including course work in local or wide area computer networks from an accredited college or university and three years of experience planning integrating and maintaining software and hardware for local or wide area computer networks for the required experience.

5. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Network Analyst classifications or Network Integration andManagement specialty codes in the Information Technologyfield of work on a year-for-year basis for the requiredexperience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicantswho possess the following preferred qualification(s).Include clear and specific information on your application regardingyour qualifications.

  • One year of experience supervising or leading technical systems administrators or engineers.
  • One year of experience administering Microsoft Azure or Microsoft 365 enterprise workloads and Microsoft Windows Server environments.
  • One year of experience developing and enforcing SOPs standards or technical processes.
