Position: Labor Compliance Specialist
Employment Type: Full Time
Must work in office in Fullerton 7-4pm M-F. Reporting to Office Manager
Industry Focus: Public Works and Prevailing Wage Construction
Role Summary:The Labor Compliance Specialist is responsible for managing and ensuring full compliance with federal state and local labor regulations across publicly funded construction projects. This role oversees certified payroll reporting for more than 100 active public works projects and serves as the primary liaison between regulatory agencies contractors auditors and internal teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years of hands-on experience in labor compliance for public works construction projects.
- Extensive working knowledge of California prevailing wage law DIR requirements and Davis-Bacon Act.
- Proven experience preparing and submitting certified payroll through LCP tracker and DIR PWCP.
- Experience managing 100 concurrent prevailing wage projects
- Proficiency with payroll compliance and project management systems
- Ability to work independently prioritize deadlines and exercise sound judgment.
- Experience working with PLA CWA and Skilled & Trained Workforce mandates.
Technical Interview Questions
- Walk me through your process for managing certified payroll compliance across multiple public works projects.
- How do you audit certified payrolls to identify prevailing wage or fringe benefit discrepancies
- Explain your experience working with DIR audits LCPtracker and the Public Works Portal.
- How do you ensure apprenticeship and Skilled and Trained Workforce compliance on active projects
- Describe a compliance issue you identified early and how you mitigated risk before an audit.
