Job Summary


Hertfordshires Family Centre Service is made up of the Public Health Nursing Service (Health Visitors and School Nurses) and the Family Support Service. Our purpose is to support children and families to have the best start in life develop well and thrive. We provide families with children aged up to 5 years with a wide range of services information and support on key areas relating to family life.

The Family Support & Perinatal Lead is responsible for leading supervising and developing the Family Support and Perinatal Practitioner teams across their localities ensuring high-quality delivery of family support perinatal services and early years interventions. The role oversees case management quality assurance safeguarding and partnership working ensuring services meet the needs of families from the antenatal period to age five. With a strong focus on supporting vulnerable families maintaining service performance and promoting inclusive accessible provision the postholder plays a key role in driving high standards across the Family Support Service and upholding YMCA values.

The Role
Line manage Family Support and Perinatal Practitioners including Senior roles overseeing supervision performance reviews and case audits.
Ensure high-quality delivery of family support and perinatal services including sessions interventions home visiting and digital support.
Deliver targeted and specialised support to meet family needs working closely with PHN Social Care and multi-agency partners.
Represent the Family Support Service at professional multi-agency meetings.
Monitor and achieve key performance indicators.
Carry out Designated Safeguarding Lead responsibilities ensuring robust safeguarding practice.
Some evening and Saturday work on occasion. Centre opening hours are between 8:00am 6pm.

Requirements
Knowledge and experience of Family Centres family support perinatal services and Early Help/Safeguarding procedures.
Experience as a Designated Safeguarding Person and ability to follow local authority safeguarding processes.
Proven experience leading managing and developing staff including performance management.
Ability to build strong multiagency relationships and engage families who may be reluctant or harder to reach.
Strong organisational planning and problemsolving skills with the ability to coordinate workloads effectively.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage difficult conversations and work collaboratively.
Relevant Level 4 qualification (health education childcare social care) and willingness to obtain additional required training.
A full UK driving licence access to a vehicle insured for business use and a willingness to travel on a regular basis

  • Youth services offering emotional wellbeing support and youth club opportunities for 11-19 year olds alongside our National Airplay programme funded by the RAF Benevolent Fund

The Family Support Service is part of the Hertfordshire Family Centre Service. We offer support advice and guidance for families from pregnancy through to when a child reaches the end of Primary School (11 years old). Our purpose is to support families to receive seamless integrated services support and information on key areas relating to family life. This is provided through universal services where there are emerging needs along with when more specialist or 1;1 support would be beneficial. Services can be delivered through 1:1 group sessions and activities accessed within centres community venues or support workers will visit families within their homes to ensure individual familys needs are met.

The geographical area we cover includes Broxbourne East Herts and Welwyn and Hatfield Districts (the East Quadrant of Hertfordshire). With our purpose being to support children and families to have the best start in life develop well and thrive.
