About the role

Access Health and Community is seeking a compassionate Wellbeing Navigator to join the Support and Connect Team at the Yarra Ranges Mental Health and Wellbeing Local a groundbreaking community-led initiative driving Victorias mental health reform. This permanent Fulltime role is based primarily at our Lilydale site. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to work alongside a passionate Lived Experience team in a service where lived experience is not just included but actively leads the work.

This is a designated consumer Lived Experience position. The role focuses on providing peer support using the Intentional Peer Support framework and service navigation. You will walk alongside people experiencing mental health and/ drug and alcohol challenges as they navigate the supports they want and need. You will be part of a safe and empowering workplace and team build on mutuality respect and a shared commitment to mental health system reform.

What you will be doing

  • Purposefully draw on your personal Lived Experience of recovery to build mutual connections and offer support that builds hope self-determination and personal growth
  • Provide one to one peer support to participants using the Intentional Peer Support framework. This may be in the participants home in the community or Locals sites based on their preference
  • Support participants to explore what wellbeing means to them and walk alongside them as the identify access and engage in a range of health social and community supports
  • Embody and embrace Lived Experience values and principles of recovery strength ability and possibility to build connects with participants colleagues and service providers
  • Collaborate with participants and the multidisciplinary team to support intake shared person led assessments and development of recovery goals and wellbeing plans

What you will bring

  • Personal experience of distress trauma mental illness and/or substance use and the recovery journey accessing and navigating health care services including mental health services and a willingness to draw on these experiences to inform your work
  • Minimum qualification in Intentional Peer Support SHARC Peer Worker training Certificate IV Mental Health Peer work/ Alcohol and other Drugs or other relevant peer work qualification
  • Prior employment as a peer worker (desirable)
  • Ability to build genuine respectful relationships and connect with people from a diverse range of backgrounds identities and experiences
  • Basic skills/willingness to learn skills in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems

Compliance Requirements:

  • National Police Check Working with Children Check NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Evidence of the right to work in Australia and a valid Drivers Licence
  • Completion of NDIS Worker Orientation Module (free online)
  • Legal working rights in Australia
