Job Summary
Job Description:
A General Manager (GM) of a Wire Rod Milloversees all production maintenance and operational activities ensuring high efficiency quality standards and profitability for a steel manufacturing unit. Responsibilities include optimizing rolling processes managing raw materials to finished products reducing cobble rates and leading technical teams.
Key Responsibilities & Job Description
- Operational Leadership:Manage end-to-endwire rod milloperations includingfurnace operations rolling stands cooling and coiling processes.
- Production & Efficiency:Develop and implement production schedules monitor process parameters and optimize yield while reducing cobble rates and energy consumption.
- Maintenance Management:Oversee both routine and breakdown maintenance of equipment likewalking beam furnaces shearers pinch rolls and coilers.
- Quality Control:Ensure products meet technical specifications and standards (e.g. ISO and QS audits).
- Team Management:Lead and guide operators technicians and supervisors to maintain a safe and productive environment.
- Financial & Safety Management:Manage budgets control operating costs and enforce strict safety standards.
Key Competencies & Qualifications
- Education: in Mechanical Metallurgy or Production Engineering.
- Experience:Proven experience in managing a Wire Rod Mill with a strong understanding of roll pass design and guide systems.
- Skills:Strong technical knowledge of steel rolling effective leadership problem-solving and capability to manage profit centers.
