Role Objective | The Head of Business Development will lead the BD function for the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Strategic Business Unit (SBU) within the EPC business. This leadership role is responsible for driving growth through opportunity identification client engagement tendering oversight and strategic market expansion across EHV Substation (AIS/GIS) and Transmission Line sectors. The role will also provide direction to tendering and estimation teams to ensure competitive timely and compliant bid submissions. |
Major Deliverables | - In current role: shall be heading Business Development function in an EPC organization leading BD and tendering teams driving opportunity pipeline and strategic growth initiatives.
- Must have extensive experience in EHV Substation (AIS/GIS) and Transmission Line (66kV to 765kV) markets including tendering estimation and client relationship management.
- Shall be responsible for:
i. Leading BD tendering and estimation activities for SBU–T&D. ii. Setting up and strengthening BD and tendering teams at HO and supporting regional teams. iii. Establishing BD processes – opportunity tracking systems bidding protocols client engagement frameworks competitor analysis. iv. Overseeing preparation and submission of competitive tenders (technical commercial); coordinating with engineering procurement contracts and execution teams for bid alignment. v. Strong understanding of utility procurement systems TBCB norms EPC contractual requirements capex cycles and regulatory/market trends. vi. Maintaining strong client relationships with utilities consultants EPC players government bodies and large private developers to drive business growth. vii. Monitoring monthly BD KPIs (bid submission order intake win–loss ratio funnel conversion revenue forecast) and conducting post-bid analysis. viii. Ensuring timely bid reviews risk assessments and compliance with internal approval mechanisms. ix. Issuing monthly BD and Tendering Performance Reports to the Management. x. Identifying market gaps driving strategic initiatives new segment entry partnerships innovations and capability building. xi. Driving business excellence in tendering and BD processes through use of Lean tools data analytics and continuous improvement methodologies. xii. Initiating use of digital tools/CRM platforms for opportunity tracking bid status monitoring and client interaction management. xiii. Working with BD and tendering teams to optimize cost-to-company for bidding operations manpower estimation standardization of documents and process harmonization across all regions.
