Job Summary

Description

TheSeniorDirect Support Professional (DSP)is responsible forimplementing person-centered services for each individual. This includes ensuring implementation of the individuals servicesgoalsand outcomes in relation to program-based and community inclusion addition the Senior Direct Support Professional isdirectly responsiblefor the individuals overall physical and emotional well-being.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions of Position:

  • Promote choice and self-determination to support individuals to direct the course of their own lives.
  • Ensure DSPs support and teach individuals according to their servicesgoalsand engage individuals in skills developmentsocializationand task participation across all settings. Ensure that supports are provided with consideration for each persons individualized needs and routines.
  • Promote and support the inclusion of individuals in their community according to their unique needs interests and desires. Model and encourage interaction between individuals and community individuals personal growth byassistingin forming andmaintainingfriendships with neighbors co-workersand peers.
  • Transport individualsutilizingagency vehicles orassistthem in taking public transportation asrequired.
  • Planmonthly/ dailyschedule withteamfor community outings and in-house activities.
  • Create staff action plan with PPT and participate in the Program Planning Team (PPT) meetings.
  • Document and ensure documentation of necessary information and data in areas such as medical behavioral individualized services goals and outcomes fire safety community inclusion communication books etc. ensuring their accuracy and completeness.
  • Complete all monthly summaries by the 10th of every month.
  • Ensure all required documents are in individuals program books are up to date and uploaded into Precision Care.
  • Provide appropriate levels of supervision on anindividualizedbasis for staff and individuals.
  • Actively engage in all program services as needed including toileting behavioral interventions community inclusion emergencies physical plant cleanliness
  • Assistprogram coordinator in securing safeguards/protective measures and notifications forincident.
  • Ensure all occurrence reports are completely filled out correctly andgiventhe program coordinator the same day.
  • Ensure that equipment and supplies are appropriately and safely stored.
  • Oversee cleaning andclean asfrequentlyand thoroughly as necessary to meet program cleanliness standards. Report any hazards or unsafe conditionsimmediatelytosupervisor.
  • Advocate appropriately and professionally on behalf of individuals.
  • Participate in staff meetings in-servicetrainingsand on-site workshops asrequiredfor professional growth and externaltrainingsandworkshops at direction ofdirect supervisor or program certification in *AMAP CPR/First Aid and SCIP asrequired.
  • Undertake any additional tasks and initiatives within the scope of the role as per the specific needs of the programs and individuals and as assigned by supervisor.
  • Meet or exceed the DSP Core Competencies Standards by the end of the 1st year of employment.


Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GEDrequired;Bachelors degree from four year college or equivalentpreferred.
  • Minimum 2 years in the field with experience in supervision and paperwork.
  • Minimum of 2 years or more experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Prior staff supervision experiencestronglypreferred.
