Position Title: EL1 equivalent ICT Project Manager
Employment Type: Labour hire (approx 12 months with potential to extend)
Location: Canberra (or interstate)
Hourly Pay Rate: Rates negotiable dependent on skills and experience
Security Clearance/Requirements: Ability to obtain/maintain Baseline security clearance
Working Arrangements: Hybrid arrangements available
ABOUT THE ROLE
An Australian Government department is seeking experienced ICT Project Managers to support the delivery of significant in-flight and upcoming ICT initiatives across the FY25/26 period and beyond.
These roles will contribute to the successful delivery of projects across a broad ICT portfolio including corporate applications (such as ERP systems) infrastructure platforms (cloud hosting migration cyber security data and analytics) and software development initiatives. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered on time within scope and aligned with governance and strategic objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the end-to-end delivery of ICT projects in line with established project management frameworks (e.g. PRINCE2 Agile SAFe hybrid approaches).
Provide leadership and direction to multi-disciplinary project teams third-party vendors and internal stakeholders.
Establish and manage project governance activities including initiation planning execution and closure.
Manage scope schedule risks issues dependencies and delivery timeframes.
Oversee project budgets financial reporting and forecasting.
Prepare and present high-quality project documentation reports and briefings for Senior Executives Project Boards and governance forums.
Support delivery capability across broader programs of work as directed by the Project Management Office.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential:
Demonstrated experience delivering large and/or complex ICT projects or transformation programs.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Strong experience working across a range of delivery methodologies (e.g. Waterfall Agile SAFe PRINCE2 MSP).
End-to-end project management capability including governance scope schedule budget risk and issue management and escalation.
Demonstrated experience leading and motivating multi-disciplinary teams in dynamic environments.
Proven ability to engage and manage third-party vendors and contracts to deliver outcomes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including experience preparing board papers briefings and executive reports.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build productive relationships at all levels.
High levels of resilience and adaptability with the ability to manage ambiguity and competing priorities under pressure.
Desirable:
Experience delivering large corporate software implementations (e.g. ERP projects).
SAFe Agile and/or Scrum Master experience or certification.
Formal project management qualifications and certifications.
