Job Description:
JSL is seeking an Engineering Technician IV to support the Command-Wide Engineering Support Services (CESS) Program with the goal of providing quality systems engineering and technical expertise to aggressively improve Warfighter readiness as well as to improve and modernize the delivery quality and cost of products and services. Port Hueneme Division (PHD) of Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) is responsible for Combat Systems; Test & Evaluation; Digital Engineering; Sensors Weapons & Launchers; Modernization & Installation; Aegis; Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Cooperative Engagement Capability; Fire Control System (FCS) MK 92; Fire Control System MK 99; Guided Missile Launching System; Vertical Launch Systems; Ship Self Defense System (SSDS);Tomahawk Weapon Control Systems/Suites; Guns Weapons Systems; and DDG 1000.
The candidate will also perform the following tasks:
Perform assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed.
Selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment using fully applicable precedents receives initial instructions equipment requirements and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed.
Perform recurring work independently.
Review work for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions.
Performs at this level one or a combination of such typical duties as:
a. Constructing components sub-units or simple models or adapts standard equipment; troubleshoot and correct malfunctions
b. Follow specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and sub-units of equipment.
c. Conduct various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement selecting preparing and operating standard test equipment and records test data.
d. Extract and compile a variety of engineering data from field notes manuals lab reports etc. processing data identifying errors or inconsistencies selecting methods of data presentation.
e. Assist in design modification by compiling data related to design specifications and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts; developing information concerning previous operational failures and modifications and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED certificate
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance is required to be considered for this position
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship now or at any time in the future
At least 4 years of work-related experience in electrical/electronic systems or technical engineering support is required.
