Application Developer

About this Opportunity:
Reporting to the Director of IT the Application Developer will act as the primary builder for our internal software this role you will have the autonomy to take architectural concepts and business requirements and translate them into fresh working code. You will be the hands-on expert responsible for implementation code structure and framework choices. This is a unique opportunity for a developer to own the development lifecycle end-to-end focusing primarily on delivering robust cloud-native solutions while standardizing and migrating our existing prototypes. You will operate in a lean high-autonomy environment that values agility and rapid execution allowing your work to make a measurable impact on the business.

Performance Objectives:
  • Full-Stack Application Delivery: Working with the Director of IT translate business requirements and architectural prototypes into production-ready applications. You will be responsible for the end-to-end development lifecycle from database design to the user interface.
  • Cloud & Automation Strategy: Design and maintain serverless solutions within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem. You will focus on replacing manual workflows with automated logic using Azure Functions and cloud-native services.
  • System Integration: Build and manage secure data connections between our internal systems and third-party vendor platforms using modern APIs (REST) and legacy protocols (XML/SOAP) where required.
  • Deployment & Operations: Assist in managing CI/CD pipelines to ensure code is released safely. You will also monitor active applications troubleshooting errors to ensure stability for internal users.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities to refactor code improve security and standardize our development patterns as the team grows.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Director of IT to refine technical designs and produce documentation to support ongoing operations.

Skills Abilities and Competencies
  • Full-Stack Versatility: Comfortable working across the entire stack from building user-friendly frontend interfaces to writing backend logic and managing API integrations (REST/SOAP).
  • Engineering & Problem Solving: Writes readable maintainable code and possesses strong troubleshooting skills to identify root causes and implement durable fixes.
  • Cloud & DevOps Mindset: Distinct awareness of cloud security (Secrets/Key Vault) CI/CD principles and the value of automated safe deployments in an Azure environment.
  • Agile Collaboration: Thrives in a lean fast-paced environment; able to communicate technical concepts clearly manage time effectively and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Ownership & Initiative: Proactively identifies opportunities to automate manual processes and demonstrates a commitment to delivering complete high-quality solutions with minimal guidance.
  • Nice to Haves:
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure (Functions Web Apps Logic Apps).
  • Experience with modern frontend frameworks ( React or Vue).
  • Ability to interpret XML/SOAP structures for vendor integrations.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Degree in Computer Science/IT or related field OR equivalent practical experience (bootcamp portfolio / relevant work experience).
  • Experience: 15 years of relevant development experience (or equivalent demonstrated capability through projects/portfolio).
  • Work Arrangement: Hybrid & In-office (Winnipeg) once per week otherwise remote.
