Design Draftsperson

We are now seeking a detail-oriented Draftsperson to produce models and manufacturing drawings of conveyor rolls as well as associated conveyor structures and frames. This position may also assist in design or documentation projects to further support the Engineering team.

Our Opportunity

The Draftsperson will provide support by preparing 3D & 2D models producing 2D drawings generating bills of materials and assisting in concept designs. The Draftspersons expertise will advise on process improvements feedback on customer specifications and support the evaluation of design issues. This position will also focus on:

• Strategy: Review customer specifications and clarify deliverable in consultation with Engineers and Sales staff ensuring all parties are aligned with and meeting customer expectations. Participate in customer review meetings where required to provide technical drafting input.
• Execution: Review and improve existing drawings templates and processes. Prepare layout assemblies detail drawings and bills of materials. Ensure all output meets technical and manufacturing requirements.
• Structure: Reporting to the Drafting Manager you will maintain strong communication with all relevant stakeholders to ensure you are passing on important information as a key team member. Collaborate with advise and support the Engineering Sales and Workshop departments.

About you

You will be a dedicated Draftsperson looking to create or continue their long-term career in Drafting. You will ideally have exposure to Manufacturing or Mining environments and will be motivated to learn. You will be comfortable utilising the supportive network around you to fill knowledge gaps and will show initiative when solving issues. You will also be a:

• Skilled Professional: Have completed a Trade Certificate Diploma or Associate Diploma in Mechanical Drafting Engineering Design or similar. While there may be additional Engineering projects on offer we are looking for someone that wants to focus on Drafting for the long-term.
• Subject Matter Expert: Experienced with Manufacturing and/or Mining environments. Ideally you will have exposure to Conveyor equipment rotating components or fabricated steel products.
• Systems Guru: You will be proficient in Autodesk Inventor for 3D modelling and 2D detailing. You will know understand and implement best drafting practices.
• Methodical and Passionate Persona: Values attention to detail and quality output.
• Strong Communicator: Able to effectively engage with a diverse team and set clear expectations and instructions. Confident in your ability to raise drafting design or process issues amongst internal stakeholders.
• Relentless bias to action: An enthusiastic problem solver that wants to take ownership of their work and be proud of their output.
