DISHER has an 18-month contract in Portage MI for a Engineer for Welding Operations. This position is 100% onsite.
What you will get to do:
- The contractor will be responsible for executing tasks defined in the project plan that support welding operations associated with the assembly program. This includes: Completing project-assigned welding engineering tasks in alignment with build schedules and manufacturing milestones. Supporting the development qualification and documentation of welding processes as required for production. Assisting with technical reviews feasibility assessments and readiness activities related to welded subassemblies.
- To enable internal engineering resources to remain fully allocated to project work the contractor will provide sustaining support across existing welding operations. Responsibilities include: Troubleshooting welding-related production issues including process deviations equipment concerns and material inconsistencies.
- Supporting root-cause analysis and corrective actions for weld-related defects or quality issues. Maintaining weld procedures parameters and associated documentation under engineering guidance. Providing day-to-day support to operators and technicians across multiple welding stations or lines.
- Cross-Line Welding Support: The contractor will be expected to support welding operations across several assembly and welding lines. Activities include: Responding to weld engineering requests across different product lines in a timely manner. Balancing multiple tasks while staying aligned with direction from the welding engineering team. Ensuring welding standards parameters and safety protocols are consistently applied across all supported lines.
- Technical Direction and Collaboration: The contractor will report to and take direction from the engineering team. Expectations include: Following technical guidance from welding engineers and contributing to engineering discussions where appropriate. Communicating status updates risks and emerging issues proactively. Collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams including manufacturing assembly tooling and quality engineering.
- Safety Compliance and Quality: Ensure all work adheres to internal welding standards safety requirements and applicable codes (e.g. AWS ISO) as directed by the engineering team. Support quality inspections and documentation where needed including weld symbol interpretation visual inspection and process verification. Maintain accurate and complete records of work weld trials and process adjustments.
