Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant/Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for providing patient care under the direction of a physician or another healthcare provider. The MA/CMA works to facilitate clinic workflow assist patients and ensure safe seamless delivery of care for each patient.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately rooms patients obtains & records vital signs patient history and reason for seeking care.

  • Accurately records patient charges for medications supplies equipment labs and procedures.

  • Provides patient care in a safe comfortable and private environment.

  • Assists in tracking patient follow-up and compliance.

  • Assists the providers with patient education pertain to their ongoing care.

  • Prepares and/or coordinates referrals as directed by the provider.

  • Performs appropriate basic and/or routine regular delegated medical functions as directed and within appropriate scope of practice as inferred by knowledge skill level and CU clinic guidelines.

Onsite this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Healthcare Technician I:

  • High school diploma/GED.

  • Certification or licensure from an accredited medical assistant program.

Healthcare Technician II:

  • High school diploma/GED.

  • Certification or licensure from an accredited medical assistant program.

  • One (1) year of experience in a medical clinic.

    • Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree

  • Medical Office experience in area of specialty (hematology).

  • EPIC EMR experience.

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.

  • One (1) year of experience in patient financial counseling in a healthcare setting.

  • Pediatric and Adult phlebotomy experience.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally.

  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with physicians providers staff and management.

  • Outstanding customer service skills.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Strong Business and Organizational Competence.

  • Strong knowledge of CPT & ICD-10 procedures.

  • Ability to effectively cope with a faced-paced environment and typical job stressors.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:

Healthcare Technician I: $44116 $51527

Healthcare Technician II: $47813 $55846

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
