2026 Thompson Engineering Summer Collegiate Internship Program

Program Overview

The 2026 Thompson Engineering Summer Collegiate Internship Program offers students the opportunity to gain meaningful practical experience across a variety of disciplines. Interns work alongside experienced professionals on active projects gaining exposure to both office-based and field-based work depending on their area of interest.

Internship opportunities are available in the following focus areas:

  • Civil Engineering

  • Environmental Engineering & Sciences

  • Transportation Engineering

  • Architectural & Building Sciences

  • Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI)

  • Field Services & Materials Testing

  • Program & Project Management

What Youll Do

Responsibilities will vary by discipline and assignment but may include:

  • Assisting with engineering design analysis and technical documentation

  • Supporting field inspections data collection sampling and testing activities

  • Assisting with construction observation CEI reporting and quality control documentation

  • Preparing reports plans exhibits and project deliverables

  • Supporting project managers with scheduling coordination and administrative tasks

  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on real client projects

  • Learning industry standards safety practices and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university

  • Pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering Environmental Engineering Transportation Architecture Construction Management Engineering Technology or a related field

  • Completed at least one year of undergraduate coursework by Summer 2026 (preferred)

  • Strong communication organizational and teamwork skills

  • Willingness to work in both office and field environments as applicable

  • Valid drivers license (for field-based positions)
