Job Description:
TheHead of Electrical Power Plant/SMS/DRI/SIDis a senior leadership role responsible for the overall electrical operations maintenance safety and efficiency of the power generation and distribution systems within an integrated steel plant environment (Direct Reduced Iron Steel Melting Shop Sponge Iron Division).
Key Responsibilities
- Operations & Maintenance Management:Oversee all electrical maintenance and operations ensuring a continuous and reliable power supply to all plant sections.
- Equipment Oversight:Manage the operation maintenance and troubleshooting of high-voltage (HT) and low-voltage (LT) systems transformers switchgear (VCBs ACBs) motors Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and power distribution networks.
- Maintenance Planning:Develop and execute comprehensive preventive predictive and breakdown maintenance schedules to maximize plant uptime and minimize downtime.
- Safety & Compliance:Ensure strict adherence to national and international electrical safety standards statutory requirements (e.g. IE rules CEA regulations) and coordinate all necessary audits and inspections.
- Team Leadership:Supervise train and mentor a team of electrical engineers supervisors and technicians fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Energy Management:Identify opportunities for energy conservation improve power factor and monitor electrical losses to enhance overall plant efficiency.
- Project Management:Coordinate with projects and other departments (Mechanical Instrumentation etc.) for new installations expansions and major shutdowns.
- Vendor & Inventory Management:Handle vendor relations manage spare parts inventory and control the departments budget and annual maintenance contracts (AMCs).
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education:Typically requires a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience:Significant experience (often 15-25 years) in the operation and maintenance of large-scale power plants within heavy industrial settings specifically steel plants or sponge iron/DRI facilities with a proven track record in a leadership role.
- Skills:Strong technical knowledge of power systems automation control panels and troubleshooting high-voltage equipment coupled with leadership and project management capabilities.
