We are seeking a passionate dedicated and enthusiastic Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Brentford starting as soon as possible. As a Year 1 Teacher you will be responsible for delivering engaging and creative lessons across the Key Stage 1 curriculum. You will use a range of teaching strategies to ensure learning is accessible meaningful and appropriately challenging for all pupils including those with special educational needs and pupils with English as an additional language. A secure understanding of phonics early reading and early numeracy is essential for this role.
You will create a structured nurturing and positive classroom environment that promotes independence confidence and positive learning behaviours. Working closely with teaching assistants you will support pupils through whole-class teaching small-group interventions and targeted support where required. You will also monitor progress closely and use assessment information to inform planning and next steps.
Key Responsibilities
Plan deliver and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 1 curriculum
Support pupils transitioning from EYFS into Key Stage 1
Deliver effective phonics early reading and numeracy sessions
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils including SEND and EAL
Create a positive inclusive and well-structured classroom environment
Monitor pupil progress and maintain accurate assessment records
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and KS1 colleagues
Build positive relationships with parents and carers through clear communication
Contribute to staff meetings training and whole-school initiatives
Uphold safeguarding procedures and promote pupil wellbeing at all times
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Have experience teaching in Key Stage 1 ideally Year 1
Demonstrate strong classroom management and organisational skills
Be reflective proactive and adaptable
Have a clear commitment to inclusion and safeguarding
Work effectively as part of a collaborative team
