Year 1 Teacher – Brentford

We are seeking a passionate dedicated and enthusiastic Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Brentford starting as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is committed to high-quality Key Stage 1 teaching and understands the importance of supporting children as they transition from the Early Years Foundation Stage into a more structured learning environment.

As a Year 1 Teacher you will be responsible for delivering engaging and creative lessons across the Key Stage 1 curriculum. You will use a range of teaching strategies to ensure learning is accessible meaningful and appropriately challenging for all pupils including those with special educational needs and pupils with English as an additional language. A secure understanding of phonics early reading and early numeracy is essential for this role.

You will create a structured nurturing and positive classroom environment that promotes independence confidence and positive learning behaviours. Working closely with teaching assistants you will support pupils through whole-class teaching small-group interventions and targeted support where required. You will also monitor progress closely and use assessment information to inform planning and next steps.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan deliver and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 1 curriculum

• Support pupils transitioning from EYFS into Key Stage 1

• Deliver effective phonics early reading and numeracy sessions

• Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils including SEND and EAL

• Create a positive inclusive and well-structured classroom environment

• Monitor pupil progress and maintain accurate assessment records

• Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and KS1 colleagues

• Build positive relationships with parents and carers through clear communication

• Contribute to staff meetings training and whole-school initiatives

• Uphold safeguarding procedures and promote pupil wellbeing at all times

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Have experience teaching in Key Stage 1 ideally Year 1

• Demonstrate strong classroom management and organisational skills

• Be reflective proactive and adaptable

• Have a clear commitment to inclusion and safeguarding

• Work effectively as part of a collaborative team
