We are seeking a passionate dedicated and experienced Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Southend starting as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is committed to delivering high-quality Key Stage 1 lessons and supporting children as they transition from the Early Years Foundation Stage into formal learning.

As a Year 1 Teacher you will plan deliver and assess engaging lessons across the Key Stage 1 curriculum. You will ensure that all pupils including those with special educational needs and English as an additional language can access learning that is appropriately challenging and stimulating. Your role will be central in fostering independence resilience and positive learning behaviours in young learners.
Key Responsibilities
Plan deliver and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 1 curriculum
Support childrens transition from EYFS to Key Stage 1
Deliver effective phonics literacy and numeracy sessions
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils including SEND and EAL learners
Promote independence resilience and positive learning behaviours
Maintain a structured safe and inclusive classroom environment
Monitor pupil progress and maintain accurate assessment records
Collaborate effectively with teaching assistants and colleagues
Build positive relationships with parents and carers providing regular feedback
Contribute to staff meetings CPD and school-wide initiatives
Uphold safeguarding procedures and promote pupil wellbeing
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Have experience teaching in Key Stage 1 ideally Year 1
Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills
Be reflective proactive and adaptable
Show a strong commitment to inclusion and safeguarding
Work effectively as part of a collaborative team
