The Post
We areseekinganinspiring and intellectually ambitious Teacher of Religious Studiesto join our successful religious studies from September 2026.
Religious studies is a highly valued subject within the curriculum at The Grammar School at Leeds and is studied by all pupils to the end of Key Stage 4 with strong uptake at A level. Rooted in philosophy ethics and the study of religious traditions the subject encourages pupils to engage critically with some of the most important questions about beliefmoralityand human experience.
The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner who can inspire pupils to think deeply debate thoughtfully and approach complex ideas with intellectual curiosity. They will contribute to a curriculum that develops pupils analytical and evaluative skills while promoting cultural understanding and critical thinking.
Alongside teaching across the Senior School therewill be opportunities to contribute to enrichment activities lecturestripsand wider humanities initiatives within the department.

GSAL is academically selective with consistently excellent A-level and GCSE results. After merger the school introduced the diamond model of teaching through which boys and girls learn together up to age 11 then in single sex classes between Year 7 and Year11 andcome together again in sixth form lessons. Form time and extracurricular activities are mixed throughout. Class sizes are usually between 16 and 22.
Academic achievement is at the heart of a rounded education at GSAL which offers our students personal development opportunities and broad experience beyond the classroom.
