Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Recreational Aide to enhance the quality of life for residents in a long-term care setting. The ideal candidate will plan and implement recreational activities support community reintegration and provide individualized engagement under the guidance of licensed staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Activity Planning & Implementation: Independently plan organize and carry out activities tailored to residents abilities and interests.
Assessment of Needs: Collaborate with supervisors to assess and reassess resident activity preferences through observation conversations and documentation.
Community Reintegration: Accompany residents on outings such as shopping trips theaters restaurants picnics and other leisure activities.
Individual Engagement: Provide one-on-one interaction as needed to promote resident well-being.
Coordination & Logistics: Ensure availability and functionality of activity supplies and equipment; maintain and update the activity calendar.
Dietary Coordination: Work with dietary staff to request special meals or notify them of off-site meal needs.
Equipment & Facility Management: Prepare set up clean up and maintain equipment; report shortages and assist with inventory management.
Patient Care Support: Assist CNAs or licensed staff with toileting bathing dressing and grooming as needed.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Attend meetings and participate in assigned groups; perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Recreational Aide in a long-term care or skilled nursing setting.
Demonstrated ability to adhere to treatment plans and independently execute recreational activities.
Strong knowledge of recreational therapy principles human growth and leisure-time activities.
Effective communication skills with patients families and staff.
Familiarity with hospital policies procedures and worksite rules.
Certifications Required:
Active BLS certification
CNA certification required
Shift & Schedule:
Full-time; any shift
Holiday coverage required (pay based on hours worked)
Supervision:
This position operates under the supervision of a Recreational Therapist Occupational Therapist Activities Coordinator or Registered Nurse.
Additional Requirements:
Initiative creativity and genuine interest in enhancing resident quality of life through recreational activities.
Ability to safely operate vehicles for resident outings.
