Associate Attorney

About the Role:

This is a full-time in-office Litigation Associate position focused on Creditors Rights in consumer matters based in the Raleigh area. The role offers substantial responsibility and autonomy making it well suited for an attorney who is comfortable managing a high-volume practice while maintaining quality advocacy and client service.

You will handle matters from early case strategy through hearings and trials working closely with support staff and firm leadership. Regular presence in the Raleigh office is required with travel across North Carolina for court appearances (approximately 20% 40% of the time) and limited South Carolina travel as licensing permits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent creditor clients in consumer litigation matters
  • Manage a substantial caseload with minimal supervision
  • Appear at hearings trials and court proceedings across multiple jurisdictions in North Carolina (and South Carolina if licensed)
  • Negotiate settlements and resolutions that align with client objectives
  • Oversee and work effectively with support staff to ensure efficient case management
  • Apply a business-focused approach to legal practice and client service
  • Maintain strong organization accuracy and compliance in all case work

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one year of litigation experience in private practice
  • Ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload
  • Demonstrated experience handling hearings trials and contested matters
  • Strong negotiation skills with a focus on efficient case resolution
  • Understanding of the business and operational aspects of managing an effective law practice
  • Residence and primary work location in the Raleigh Durham RTP area
  • Active North Carolina Bar license in good standing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Dual licensure in North Carolina and South Carolina or willingness to obtain South Carolina licensure
  • Three years of experience representing creditors in state court
  • Preference for an in-office environment and a collegial team-oriented culture
