This is strictly a contingent role.
Someone working as an automotive technician or electrical technician would be a good target. They can teach some of the testing and reading of schematics if needed. Candidates must be familiar working with the tools/machinery.
MAJOR PURPOSE:
Working in the Accelerated Design Verification (ADV) group to provide project support performing test setup monitoring inspection and reporting using procedures and criteria set forth in the test plan. This is a 3rd shift position. (10p-6:30a).
MAJOR DUTIES:
Assembly of test rigs based on layout drawings and setup instructions. This includes:
Mechanical assembly using hand tools and battery/air impact wrenches
Use of overhead cranes
Connecting hydraulic plumbing
Connecting electrical control cables
Requires bending kneeling working at floor level
Must be able to lift 25 lbs
Document any changes to the setup procedure and layout drawings for continuous improvement.
Monitor and adjust test controls as necessary to keep the tests running efficiently.
Perform test specimen inspections and make repairs as required by the defined test parameters.
Document all test related incidents and activities using a web-based application.
Contact the appropriate client personnel as required to prevent safety issues environmental issues and failures to test equipment or specimens and perform emergency shutoff procedures if necessary.
Perform routine lab maintenance and cleaning. Including but not limited to mopping vacuuming organizing and putting away tools/equipment in the lab.
Pick up parts from the client Parts Distribution Center and perform various other errands.
PREFERRED BACKGROUND
Experience working on machinery (tear down and repair) mechanic/mechanical background
Knowledge of Windows file/folder structure and how to copy/move/rename files
Good computer skills with Microsoft Office
Ability to read dimensioned part drawings and test layout drawings
Ability to work independently
Experience with servo-hydraulic or hydraulic systems preferred but not necessary
