Controls Engineer (Electrical Engineering)

Location: West Branch Distribution Center 160 Fawcett Drive West Branch Iowa 52358-4724

We are seeking a Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team at the West Branch Distribution Center. This role is critical in ensuring the reliability efficiency and safety of our electrical and automation systems. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with problem-solving skills to support plant operations drive process improvements and maintain compliance with quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Systems Expertise: Design maintain and troubleshoot AC/DC systems transformers generators motor controls and circuit breakers.
Blueprint & Technical Documentation: Interpret and apply schematics wiring diagrams and technical drawings to ensure accurate installations and repairs.
Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and resolve complex electrical and automation issues in industrial machinery and plant systems.
Process Improvement: Analyze plant processes identify inefficiencies and implement engineering solutions to optimize performance.
Preventative Maintenance: Develop and execute preventative maintenance plans to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams to detect problems implement corrective actions and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Compliance & Safety: Ensure all work adheres to company standards OSHA regulations and industry best practices for safety and quality.

Qualifications

Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering Controls Engineering or related field (Associate degree with equivalent experience may be considered).
3 years of experience in industrial controls electrical systems or automation engineering.
Strong knowledge of PLCs HMIs and industrial automation software (Allen-Bradley Siemens or equivalent).
Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical systems and programming logic.
Ability to read and interpret technical documentation schematics and wiring diagrams.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to process improvement.
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments.

Preferred Skills

Experience with SCADA systems and industrial networking protocols.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
Knowledge of NFPA 70E NEC and other electrical safety standards.
Hands-on experience in distribution center or manufacturing environments.
