KPFF Seattles Transportation Team focuses on designing infrastructure that moves people and connects communities across the region. We work on a wide range of transit and transportation projects including roadway and trail improvements fish passage enhancements and major infrastructure efforts throughout the Puget Sound and Pacific Northwest. Our team supports projects from early planning and feasibility through design permitting and construction. We collaborate closely with public agencies transit authorities contractors and fellow engineers to deliver thoughtful sustainable solutions that improve mobility restore natural systems and strengthen the built environment.
Located in downtown Seattle our office is now accepting applications for the Summer 2026 Water Resources Engineering Internship. This position will provide the opportunity for you to get involved in real-world projects from day one. You will work alongside experienced engineers on real projects gaining hands-on experience and building the skills needed to succeed in the industry as well as:
- Assist experienced engineers in solving complex engineering problems and executing project goals.
- Support engineers and CAD staff with design-related tasks such as calculations plan production and review.
- Learn and utilize engineering and design software (e.g. MGSFlood HEC-RAS AutoCAD Civil 3D ArcGIS) to contribute to project development.
- Travel to project sites to observe various stages of project development.
- Apply core engineering principles and advanced mathematical techniques to tackle real-world challenges.
- Build familiarity in navigating federal state and local regulations while aligning with KPFFs and our clients standards and practices.
- Participate in our intern program which includes training luncheons site visits and social events with other interns officewide.
- Thrive in a vibrant inclusive and collaborative team environment that values creativity curiosity and excellence.
(Job responsibilities will vary depending on team project and each individual interns interests.)
Qualifications :
- Currently pursuing an ABET accredited bachelors or masters degree in civil (preferred) or environmental engineering
- Basic knowledge of engineering fundamentals
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Desire for continued learning
Additional Information :
Physical Demands:
- Duties are primarily conducted in a standard office setting requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or computer table.
- Occasionally may be required to lift objects weighing up to 15 lbs.
- Occasionally visiting project locations and performing field inspections which may involve walking standing kneeling or navigating uneven terrain.
- Traveling to project sites or client meetings which may involve driving.
Compensation:
The expected range for a qualified candidate is $28.00 - $29.00
