The Opportunity
A fast-growing provider of integrated marine logistics and terminal operations is seeking a Director of Operations to lead the next phase of operational scale and performance across its U.S. Gulf Coast facilities.
This role offers significant influence over how terminal operations are led measured and integrated ensuring consistent execution of safety service and performance standards as the organization continues to grow. The Director of Operations will work closely with terminal leadership to strengthen operational discipline drive efficiency and support the seamless integration of new terminal acquisitions into the organizations operating model.
The Role
Reporting to the Director of Marine Terminals the Director of Operations is responsible for leading and optimizing terminal operations across AGSs U.S. facilities. This position provides strategic and hands-on leadership to terminal managers and their teams driving efficiency productivity and operational excellence across all aspects of cargo handling logistics and customer service. Key Responsibilities include:
Operational Leadership
- Leading and overseeing day-to-day terminal operations to ensure safe efficient and high-quality execution
- Developing implementing and enforcing standardized operating procedures across all terminals
- Monitoring and analyzing operational KPIs including throughput productivity equipment utilization and turnaround times
- Ensuring alignment between operations commercial maintenance and support teams to optimize asset performance and customer satisfaction
- Fostering a culture of accountability discipline and continuous improvement
Safety Quality & Compliance- Championing a safety-first culture across all facilities
- Ensuring compliance with all company local state and federal regulations
- Partnering closely with HSE leadership to implement safety policies and procedures
- Conducting regular audits and site visits to verify operational and safety compliance
- Leading incident investigations and corrective action planning
Performance Management & Continuous Improvement- Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce operational costs
- Driving initiatives to improve cargo-handling efficiency terminal throughput and service quality
- Leveraging technology data and analytics to support data-driven operational decisions
- Leading cross-functional planning scheduling and resource-allocation efforts
People Leadership & Development- Providing leadership structure and accountability to terminal management teams
- Coaching and developing leaders to strengthen operational capabilities across sites
- Promoting collaboration knowledge sharing and consistent communication
- Ensuring staffing levels training programs and succession plans align with operational needs
- Building a positive performance-driven culture grounded in safety integrity and excellence
Financial Management- Contributing to annual budgets forecasts and performance targets for terminal operations
- Monitoring operating expenses labor efficiency and resource utilization to achieve cost and margin objectives
- Collaborating with finance and executive leadership on ROI capital planning and investment priorities
Strategic Growth and Integration - Supporting operational due diligence and integration for terminal acquisitions and greenfield developments
- Developing transition plans to ensure seamless onboarding of new facilities into the organizations operational framework.
- Partnering with commercial leadership to ensure operational readiness for new contracts and service expansions
What Were Looking For:- 10 years of progressive leadership experience in terminal or port operations logistics or related heavy industrial environments.
- Bachelors degree in supply chain Maritime Studies Engineering Business Administration or a related field required; MBA preferred.
- Demonstrated success managing multi-site operations with diverse teams and customer portfolios.
- Proven experience in performance improvement cost management and safety leadership.
- Strong understanding of cargo-handling equipment port infrastructure and operational technology systems.
- Ability to travel up to 50%
Compensation & Benefits- Competitive base salary: $160000$165000/ Depending on experience
