Job Summary

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Camden to assist with the appointment of a Customer Service Officer on a 1.5-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 16.43 - 21.48 per hour

Summary:

The Customer Service Officer role will work as part of a contact centre team managing inbound calls via the main switchboard and exception payment lines ensuring citizens are accurately supported signposted and assisted with enquiries and payments. The role plays a key part in delivering excellent customer experience improving citizen satisfaction and maintaining high service standards across Camdens services.

Responsibilities:

  • Answer and manage incoming calls from the main switchboard and exception payment lines
  • Accurately assess caller needs and transfer to appropriate internal departments or external services
  • Take payments for customers unable to pay via self-service channels
  • Ensure full compliance with Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards when processing payments
  • Use internal systems and directories to provide accurate and up-to-date service information
  • Handle routine enquiries directly and escalate complex issues when required

Essentials:

  • Experience in customer service contact centre switchboard or public-facing service roles desirable
  • Experience in handling payments and working with confidential information beneficial
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to resolve problems using clear plain language
  • Confidence in handling difficult and sensitive conversations
