Job Summary

We are working closely alongside with a local authority in Islington to assist with the appointment of a Service Manager on a 3-months contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 269.81 - 365.35 per day

Summary:

As a Service Manager you will lead and manage a range of fostering and permanency services to ensure the delivery of high-quality effective and safe support for children and young people. You will be responsible for driving placement stability ensuring regulatory compliance and leading a team of professionals to achieve the best possible outcomes for children in care. The role requires a strategic leader who can manage complex budgets maintain Good or Outstanding Ofsted ratings and foster strong partnerships across the council.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain high standards of professional practice and ensure the service is prepared for and performs well during Ofsted inspections.
  • Lead develop and manage the Fostering and Permanency service to ensure it meets departmental and corporate objectives.
  • Ensure all services comply with the Fostering Services Regulations National Minimum Standards and relevant legislation.
  • Provide expert consultation and decision-making on complex cases involving high levels of risk to children and young people.
  • Work closely with the Corporate Parenting Board and other council departments to advocate for the needs of children in care.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a recognized Social Work qualification (e.g. DipSW CQSW BASW).
  • Must be currently registered with Social Work England.
  • Evidence of relevant post-qualification training and management development.

Essentials:

  • Significant experience in managing social work teams within a statutory childrens social care setting.
  • In-depth experience in fostering and permanency services including an understanding of the recruitment and support of foster carers.
  • Experience in leading service improvements and managing organizational change effectively.
  • Expert knowledge of the Children Act 1989/2004 and the legal frameworks surrounding fostering and adoption.

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS
