About the Opportunity
Job Summary
The Student Recruitment & Retention Specialist develops and manages comprehensive and strategic student recruitment initiatives to increase the number of students from historically low college enrollment communities; develops designs and implements a wide variety of marketing programs to all target and feeder school sites and community partners. This will include presenting to various classes recruiting at Open Houses and using data to identify Upward Bound eligible students.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma
- Must demonstrate proficiency in a related field
- Inspirational culturally aware with demonstrated knowledge and experience in problems facing low-income and first-generation students
- Knowledge of child/adolescent development and different learning styles
- Must be able to effectively work with students with diverse academic socioeconomic cultural linguistic and ethnic backgrounds
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment of Potential Upward Bound Scholars
- Conducting recruitment presentations at feeder school sites
- Supporting perspective students and families with completion of the UB Student application
- Conducting initial student/parent interview to determine program eligibility
- Development of program marketing materials
- Maintain detailed files for program applicants
Supporting Student Retention Activities
- Facilitate workshops for newly admitted middle school students during Saturday College
- Conduct outreach via email text and telephone to recently admitted students
- Support UB Staff during Saturday College and Wednesday Events
General Office Support
- Support with UB administrative tasks as assigned by Program Director and/or Office Manager
