The Senior Independent Living Specialist is responsible for the following programs: Branching Out Independent Living IL RAP (Independent Living Rental Assistance Program) and Supportive Community Living. Additionally this role is responsible for supervising employees managing curriculum ensuring the program is executed in a respectable and efficient manner while supporting OHBs mission and professionally representing OHB Salary: $57500- 61000 annually Schedule: Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm with flexibility based on the needs of the program and on call responsibilities. Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned. - Acts as liaison between referring agency and programs.
- Acts as liaison between community partners and programs.
- Maintains case records compiles statistics and writes program and client monthly reports.
- Provides spontaneous teaching problem-solving and crisis intervention.
- Participates in program development; attends staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
- Tracks and interviews all program applicants with the Senior Director of Self-Sufficiency as well as informing all program applicants of application status within 24 hours of decision.
- Conducts client intakes for Branching Out and Supportive Community Living participants.
- Supervises program staff members to include regular and consistent individual and group supervision.
- Oversee the cleanliness and reporting of maintenance concerns in all program buildings including maintaining a clean and tidy campus.
- Conducts monthly walkthroughs of live-in programs for safety and cleanliness.
- Ensures self and all team members meet their annual training requirements.
- Markets recruitment and referrals for young adults for admission to the program to include creating fliers and informational handouts for community partners. Shares program options with OHB Live-In Programs to give OHB clients an opportunity to have community support as they transition back into community living (including their home) after their OHB placement.
- Share on-call for Supportive Community Living emergency maintenance and safety needs.
- Interviews supervises hires and terminates all program staff with aid from the Senior Director of Self-Sufficiency.
- Prepares and maintains programs operating budgets to include program financial obligations and reporting with the support of Senior Director of Self Sufficiency.
- Manage fees and dues obligations of program participants to include working immediately with the Senior Director of Self-Sufficiency when clients are not fulfilling their obligations
- Provides case management for the Supportive Community Living participants to include conducts TTS (Transition to Success) assessments; develops discharge criteria; assists clients in needs accessing resources and ensuring they have the necessary support to be successful; completes monthly reports and discharge summaries
Required Experience: - Must be 21 years of age.
- Bachelors Degree in a human service or related field is required. Masters degree is preferred.
- Five years experience with independent living programs or with young people who need structure and support to aid in long-term success.
- Working knowledge in managing people programs and operating a budget.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule.
- Must be able to meet with the clients in their housing environment.
- Must be able to evaluate people and their needs.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and organize work to meet deadlines.
- Basic knowledge of first aid and safety.
- Proficiency in M/S Office.
- Ability to effectively interact with sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences present in the organizations service population both individually and in groups.
- Must possess a valid drivers license with a good driving record and current auto insurance and the ability to pass an extensive background check.
