JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor the Seasonal Grounds Crew member performs manual labor related to the care and maintenance of district grounds including lawns playgrounds parking lots equipment and vehicles.
Season: Approximately April through October (dates may vary based on operational needs and weather conditions)
Hours: Full-time generally 40 hours per week; schedule may vary and may include early mornings
Pay Classification: Seasonal non-exempt (hourly); not eligible for district benefits
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance or related work preferred
- Valid Iowa drivers license
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform routine groundskeeping and maintenance including but not limited to planting fertilizing irrigating mowing aerating edging raking trimming weeding seeding
- Maintain and perform minor repairs to playgrounds and associated equipment
- Perform general parking lot maintenance
- Safely operate inspect and maintain a variety of groundskeeping machinery equipment and tools
- Assist with maintenance and repair of grounds equipment and vehicles
- Serves as an escort to contractors performing work on district property
- Ensure assigned work orders are completed accurately and in a timely manner
- Work collaboratively with district staff and supervisors
- Follow all safety procedures and demonstrate safe work practices at all times
- Completes all required training and certifications
OTHER FUNCTIONS
- Assist with the moving of classroom furniture materials and equipment as needed
- Transport store and maintain grounds equipment supplies and tools
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Knowledge of and the ability to safely operate a variety of vehicles machinery powered equipment and tools
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals safety guidelines and work instructions
- Effective organizational interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
- Ability to maintain accurate records and complete work documentation
- Initiative and ability to work with limited supervision

- Ability to push pull and reach above shoulder level
- Frequent exposure to noise greater than 85dB
- Primarily outdoor work environment with exposure to varying weather conditions including heat and cold
- Exposure to fumes odors chemicals and dust
- Regular work in close proximity to moving machinery and equipment
