DescriptionIn accordance with the Vision Purpose and Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Under the direction of the Manager Regional Laundry the Coordinator Regional Laundry assists the Manager in the day to day operations of the Laundry. Assists with duties related to the production of laundry and the processing of linens. Assists with ensuring that written Policies and Procedures and work standards comply with professional legal and hospital standards
Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Training And Experience
Completion of Certified Laundry and Linen Management Course from the Association for Linen Management or another recognized Laundry Management Program. Five years recent related experience in laundry management or an acceptable combination of education training and experience.
Valid BC Drivers License.
Skills And Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to lead plan direct co-ordinate and evaluate the performance of staff.
- Strong desire to interact effectively with others to communicate to influence to motivate to win cooperation and to develop team work.
- Ability to effectively communicate clear and concise goals and leads by example to ensure those goals are met daily weekly monthly and yearly.
- Ability to work effectively with senior leaders staff and customers and establish partnerships in a wide variety of health care settings.
- Ability to develop and nurture an environment where quality improvement principles are embraced and used on a continuous basis.
- Ability to prioritize plan and complete work assignments.
- Ability to problem-solve under pressures of time and pace.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize sound judgement and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work within the confines of a unionized work environment. Must have a good track record of building and maintaining sound / respectful working relationships with senior union leadership and with those at the local level of the union.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the role.
