About the Role:

The Line Mechanic plays a critical role in ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of production lines within a manufacturing or industrial setting. This position is responsible for performing routine and preventive maintenance troubleshooting mechanical issues and repairing production equipment to minimize downtime and maintain product quality. The Line Mechanic works closely with production teams to identify potential mechanical failures and implement timely solutions that support operational goals. This role demands a strong understanding of mechanical systems including hydraulics pneumatics and precision instruments to maintain and optimize equipment performance. Ultimately the Line Mechanic contributes to a safe reliable and productive work environment by applying technical expertise and attention to detail in all maintenance activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in line maintenance or mechanical repair within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools precision measuring instruments and diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems as well as production equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings schematics and technical manuals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical certification or vocational training in mechanical maintenance or related fields.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in industrial maintenance.
  • Basic welding or fabrication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours or shifts as required by production schedules.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on production line equipment to ensure optimal functionality and prevent unexpected breakdowns.
  • Diagnose mechanical failures using precision measuring tools and instruments and execute timely repairs to minimize production interruptions.
  • Utilize hand tools and specialized equipment to adjust repair and replace components of hydraulic and pneumatic systems as needed.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify mechanical issues and recommend improvements to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and report on equipment status repair activities and parts inventory to support operational planning.

Skills:

The required skills such as line maintenance hand tools and preventive maintenance are applied daily to inspect troubleshoot and repair production equipment ensuring minimal downtime. Precision instruments and precision measuring skills enable the mechanic to accurately diagnose mechanical issues and perform adjustments with high accuracy. Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulic systems is essential for maintaining and repairing complex machinery components that rely on fluid power. Maintenance repair skills are critical for restoring equipment functionality quickly and effectively supporting continuous production flow. Preferred skills like familiarity with CMMS and safety regulations enhance the mechanics ability to document work plan maintenance activities and maintain a safe working environment.
