Job Summary: The SAP BASIS Project Manager will lead delivery and operational oversight of complex SAP landscapes ensuring high availability performance optimization and secure system management across enterprise environments. This role combines deep SAP Basis technical expertise with strong project leadership stakeholder management and cross-functional coordination. The position involves managing upgrades migrations cloud and hybrid hosting strategies compliance activities and ongoing system operations while aligning SAP initiatives with business goals.
Must Have Technical/Functional Skills
10 years of SAP Basis Delivery with strong expertise in extensive technical knowledge of SAP landscapes including modules (ECC BW MII CRM SCM SLT PO Solution Manager Fiori GRC and SQL Sybase and HANA DB databases)
Proven experience in large-scale SAP landscapes high-availability setups and performance optimization oversees the successful and timely delivery of SAP projects and services to clients
Hands-on knowledge of SAP upgrades migrations and cloud or hybrid hosting (Azure AWS GCP)
Strong understanding of SAP Security Compliance and ITIL processes
Excellent leadership communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to work independently at customer location and influence technical decision-making at leadership levels
Extensive experience in maintaining strong communication with clients and internal teams to drive business outcomes and client satisfaction.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Partner directly with the Basis Director to define and execute SAP Basis strategies roadmaps and operational priorities building trust and managing expectations with client stakeholders internal teams and leadership to foster alignment on project goals
Oversee daily SAP technical operations including system monitoring performance tuning upgrades patches and system refreshes
Manage SAP system landscapes (ECC BW MII CRM SCM SLT PO Solution Manager Fiori GRC and related environments)
Ensure high system availability security compliance and disaster recovery readiness
Lead and coordinate critical Basis activities such as migration upgrade kernel updates and cloud or hybrid integrations
Collaborate with infrastructure security application and functional teams to resolve cross-domain issues
Review and implement SAP Notes Security Patches and transport management strategies
Support audits (SOX ITGC) and ensure adherence to customer policies and best practices
Provide technical guidance mentoring and escalation support to offshore and junior Basis team members.
Generic Managerial Skills
Strong customer-facing skills with the ability to build relationships and manage client expectations.
Strong project management skills including experience with project planning execution and delivery methodologies.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of management and clients.
Act as the onsite point of contact for customer leadership ensuring transparency accountability and proactive issue management.
Possess leadership qualities focusing on ability to manage SAP projects clients and teams under pressure.
Lead and mentor project teams foster a positive work environment and provide support to ensure team members can deliver high-quality results
Proactively identify track and mitigate project risks and issues escalating when necessary to ensure smooth project progression.
Drive adherence to SLAs and KPIs oversee change and release management processes and ensure the delivery of high-quality continuous service to clients
Understand client business needs and strategic objectives to translate them into actionable project requirements and identify new opportunities for service improvement and profitability.
Ensure the proper use of project management methodologies (such as AGILE ASAP or Activate) implement best practices and drive continuous improvement.
