Job Role:

We are seeking a senior strategic commercial and clinical leader to join our team as the Head of Ultrasound Services. This is a pivotal role with full accountability for the performance governance and expansion of Medica Irelands ultrasound services across managed services hospital clients and community settings.

As the Head of Ultrasound Services you will assume divisional commercial ownership for revenue growth cost control and service development directly within the service line. You will lead the design of clinical governance and team and clinic structure to ensure services are safe compliant and of high clinical quality.

You will work in close partnership with the Head of Obstetric Services to align strategies while retaining specific responsibility for non-obstetric ultrasound expansion including GP Direct and B2C services.

Job requirements

As Head of Ultrasound Services you will be responsible for:

  • Strategic & Commercial Leadership: Developing the national ultrasound strategy and holding full commercial accountability for divisional revenue margin and performance.

  • Clinical Governance: Providing senior oversight of audit quality assurance and compliance with professional and regulatory standards.

  • Workforce Leadership: Leading Ultrasound Clinical Leads overseeing workforce planning recruitment and capability development.

  • Collaboration: Partnering with the Head of Obstetric Services and Head of Teleradiology to ensure alignment in diagnostic pathways and reporting capacity.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Registered radiographer specialised in ultrasound or senior healthcare professional with substantial ultrasound leadership experience.

  • Significant experience managing multi-site ultrasound services.

  • Demonstrated experience in service development or commercial accountability within the healthcare industry.

  • Strong understanding of Irish healthcare delivery models.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct market research and financial analysis.

  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Flexibility to travel Ireland-wide and potentially to the UK.

Desirable:

  • MSc in Ultrasound or postgraduate qualification in healthcare management.

  • Experience working with HSE private hospitals and community services.

  • Experience contributing to ultrasound or diagnostic tenders.
