Position Summary
As a Professional Mechanical Designer I you will design develop document and execute mechanical and/or electromechanical solutions for components and sub-assemblies to meet company team and group this role you will perform analyses and resolve issues using problem solving techniques to develop new and innovative solutions for our Customers. You will need to use mechanical engineering principles of statics dynamics thermodynamics heat transfer hydraulics and material science to develop and design solutions for medical devices. As a Professional Mechanical Designer I you will use 2D and 3D CAD software as well as other engineering analysis this role you will work on many phases of projects which are of moderate complexity.
What Youll do as a Professional Mechanical Designer I
Technical Axis:
- Execute the Mechanical Engineering activities in the project including initiation coordination synchronization and review.
- Prepare documentation and mechanical designs for technical reviews.
- Prepare design sketches and assist with developing design layouts 3D models and drawings for a variety of components sub-assemblies processes or equipment in support of projects.
- Lead mechanical designs (follow up analysis problem solving) verification and reporting.
- Interact with vendors suppliers and consultants on a limited basis to assure compliance with requirements and specifications.
- Perform routine engineering investigations involving calculations and/or tests in support of current products new designs methods materials or process studies.
Project Axis:
- Work as a collaborative team member in engineering projects.
- Work under general supervision with few direct instructions. Carry out routine and semi-routine tasks independently.
- Lead the mechanical technical reviews working within the project constraints of schedule cost performance quality and reliability objectives.
Management Axis:
- Has no direct reports.
- May lead technical staff (Technicians Designers).
The Experience Skills and Abilities Needed
Required:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering
- Minimum of 1 year of related experience required
- Working knowledge in a variety of materials technologies and manufacturing methods is desirable. Examples include: Metal plastics rubber composites welding machining forming casting molding.
- Working knowledge in the following areas: thermodynamics computation fluid dynamics finite element analysis etc.
- Basic knowledge / skills; 3D CAD Modeling (PRO/E preferred)
