Created in 2015 to align lighten and modernize infrastructure the Technology & Infrastructure (T & I) team is the backbone and the future forward arm of CBC/Radio-Canada. This role requires full-time on-site presence.

Function


Plan coordinate assign review and monitor the work of technical installers within your delegated authority and according to needs.

Key Tasks

  • Plan coordinate assign review and monitor the work of your assigned personnel and report on performance discipline and safety matters.
  • Ensure that tools equipment materials and workspaces are kept clean and in good condition; enforce safety measures for personnel equipment and other property; make recommendations in this regard.
  • Assess and control technical quality on work premises; take appropriate action if it fails to meet prescribed standards.
  • Review workflows for certain workplace tasks establishing new ones and making recommendations as needed.
  • Take note of tasks performed and hours worked verify and certify timecards and reimbursement requests of technical installers assigned to you and hand timecards in to the appropriate technical supervisor.
  • Ensure that equipment ordered meets the requirements of the initial agreement.
  • Upon receiving approval make arrangements to acquire installation tools and equipment from the technical store or other suppliers so that you have all necessary equipment on hand for installation; inform the relevant people if any items are unavailable.
  • Provide on an ongoing basis advice direction guidance and encouragement to technical installers to ensure a healthy work environment and maintain quality service; onboard new installers and train them in their duties.
  • Perform all tasks related to manufacturing assembling wiring and installing technical equipment.
  • In case of technical failure make all repairs and replacements needed to restore service and inform the relevant people.
  • Perform the duties of Technical Installer.
  • Report any breakdowns or defects in equipment or material to the relevant people.
  • Complete the appropriate forms and documents; share information verbally or in writing to ensure proper follow-up and to keep others informed.
  • Familiarize other employees with their duties and the work environment.
  • Carry out as needed all or part of the duties of another job classification within an equivalent or lower salary group as well as other related duties.

Relationships

  • Report to the appropriate supervisor or others depending on the assignment.
  • Plan coordinate assign review and monitor work performed by technical installers in lower groups.
  • Maintain relationships internally and externally.

Education or equivalent knowledge


Community college diploma in telecommunications equipment installation and repair is required to learn the technical concepts involved in installation wiring and repair work.

Experience required


Four years experience required given the technical aspects and responsibility for coordinating a work team.

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
