: We are looking for a Food Service Worker Lead for our Barnes Location!

As the Lead Food Service Worker Lead youll be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious USDA-compliant meals and snacks to children while maintaining a safe clean and organized kitchen. Working under the guidance of the Food Service Manager youll manage inventory coordinate meal portions and distribution to classrooms and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

This role also includes supporting and training aides and volunteers and contributing to a positive child-centered environment. If youre organized dependable and passionate about serving children and families wed love to have you on our team.

The Food Service Worker Lead is a non-permanent position that works up to 75 hours/month 17.5-19 hours per week. The typical schedule for this position will be Tuesday-Friday 9:00 am- 12:30 pm with additional hours available on Monday. This position is considered a Food Service Worker Lead under Washington State Classification Specifications.This position reports to the Food Service Manager.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare food as directed by the Food Service Manager.
  • Serve USDA lunches and snacks for preschool children.
  • Maintain kitchen equipment serving utensils food preparation and storage areas in a safe and sanitary manner.
  • Post menus in kitchens.
  • Calculate accurate quantities of eating utensils and food service material for each classroom.
  • Select and organize correct table settings and food portions for each classroom.
  • Maintain and use inventory system.
  • Assist with transporting as directed by the Food Service Manager.
  • Understand the needs of children and parents incorporating them into the food program.
  • Participate as an active member of the Food Services Team.
  • Work in a professional manner.
  • Respect the confidentiality of information as defined in the Confidentiality Policy.
  • Exhibit independent work skills leadership and flexibility.
  • Train aides and volunteers in accordance with program philosophy and policies.
  • Exhibit intent to increase knowledge skill and personal growth.
  • Attend and contribute to staff meetings and Food Service Team meetings.
  • In consultation with supervisor develop professional work goals and training plan
  • Participate in training as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid Drivers License (to be considered for a transporter)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Food Workers Card
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to perform tasks around children birth to five while ensuring safety and appropriate interactions/boundaries

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a lead or supervisory role in food service or related fields

Prior to First Day of Employment

  • Washington State Patrol Background Check

  • Sex Offender Registry Check

  • TB test completed within the last year

  • Food Worker Card

  • Valid Drivers License

  • Cleared Portable Background Check through MERIT (to include fingerprinting)

  • Unofficial Transcripts

  • Policy Council Approval

  • Provide Certificate of Immunization Status (CIS) or Acceptable Version of CIS in accordance with the Washington Department of Health to include:

    • MMR Vaccine or proof of immunity to measles
