About the opportunity

WorkSafe Victoria is searching for a Director Scheme Integrity to lead the Scheme Integrity Division reporting to the Executive Director Integrity Risk & Resilience/Chief Risk Officer (CRO).

The Director will be responsible for teams of claims analysts and investigators who protect the Victorian WorkCover scheme from fraud leakage and loss. The Director will play a pivotal role in providing strategic and operational advice to the business on tackling fraud investigations and drive the implementation of new ways of working that result in excellence in investigative outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will provide contemporary investigative expertise aligned with the Australian Government Investigations Standards (AGIS).
  • Employ change management expertise to lead the team through transitions using structured methods and skills like communication coaching and strategy implementation.
  • Provide governance and oversight of new scheme fraud investigative methodologies strategies policies and operational practices across WorkSafe that strengthen WorkSafes sophistication to detect disrupt prevent and respond to fraud to ensure stability ethical behaviour and stakeholder trust.
  • Strengthen intelligence use in fraud detection working with other government agencies and agents.
  • Give advice on the provision of best practice in detecting and disrupting scheme fraud through assessing high risk claims payments scheme integrity issues and lead the adoption of new technology and case management system implementation.
  • You will be key in driving the development and implementation of professional development pathways and training for the Scheme Integrity Teams to uplift and maintain capability to embed a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in all areas of Investigations.

About you

To be successful in this position you will have significant experience in contemporary investigations particularly in line with AGIS and significant demonstrated executive level leadership experience with the ability to lead and implement change management activities. You will also bring:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders including the Executive Leadership team and the WorkSafe Board.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in the use of intelligence and the use of analytics tools and software to inform best practice across Investigations teams.

Qualifications

Tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as financial crime/fraud investigations policing or forensics.
