About the role:

The Director of Prevocational Education and Training (DPET) provides senior medical leadership for the prevocational training program overseeing the education supervision and welfare of junior doctors across their first two postgraduate years. The role drives quality accountability and the continuous improvement in training delivery ensuring the organisations alignment with the standards set by the NSW Prevocational Training Council. This document defines the DPETs scope responsibilities and selection criteria and outlines the application and assessment process for new DPET appointments submitted to the Council.

Selection Criteria:

  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincents Health Australia;
  • Possess or be eligible to possess specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA);
  • Brings the qualifications and experience required to engage confidently with senior consultants acting as Term Supervisors and has established collaborative relationships with Medical Workforce the Medical Staff Council and Executive leadership;
  • Holds a substantive appointment at St Vincents Hospital that enables them to deliver the role effectively;
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to lifting the quality consistency and impact of education and training across the organisation;
  • Understands and applies the principles of adult learning and professional development in clinical settings;
  • Has a genuine interest in postgraduate medical education with a clear appreciation of the medical education continuum and its importance as a lifelong professional responsibility;
  • Commitment of employing HETIs vision and strategic priorities relevant to the role.
