Job Summary

Position Summary:

The Assistant Director for Admission and Recruitment is a performance-driven admissions professional responsible for recruiting influencing and converting prospective students into enrolled students at Fort Lewis College. This position exists to actively manage a defined recruitment pipeline and drive application yield and enrollment outcomes through proactive outreach and consultative enrollment practices. The role is highly goal-oriented and requires accountability to clearly defined key performance indicators (KPIs) while maintaining ethical student-centered recruitment aligned with the mission of Fort Lewis College.

In addition to assigned recruiting responsibilities each Assistant Director is required to assume ownership of one or more programmatic duty areas that support the overall enrollment strategy and operational effectiveness of the Office of Admission.

This position performs work requiring advanced knowledge that is predominately intellectual in character consistently exercises discretion and judgment and performs work that is highly conceptual and requires a high degree of originality.

Job Description:

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and close a portfolio of prospective students from inquiry through enrollment confirmation using a structured academic sales-oriented enrollment process.
  • Execute consistent high-volume outbound outreach including phone calls text messages emails and virtual appointments to drive student engagement and movement through the enrollment funnel.
  • Identify prospective student motivations objections and barriers and apply consultative sales techniques to guide students toward informed enrollment decisions.
  • Effectively articulate and position Fort Lewis Colleges academic programs student experience affordability and outcomes relative to competing institutions.
  • Own an assigned recruitment territory and/or student segment with direct accountability for enrollment outcomes.
  • Meet or exceed established annual KPIs which may include inquiry-to-application conversion application-to-admit yield admit-to-confirm yield speed-to-contact standards engagement activity targets and confirmed enrollment goals.
  • Monitor analyze and prioritize outreach using CRM dashboards and reports to adjust recruitment strategies in real time.
  • Maintain accurate timely and complete documentation of all prospect interactions in the CRM system.
  • Educate students and families on financial aid processes scholarships cost of attendance and value to support informed enrollment decisions.
  • Represent Fort Lewis College at recruitment events college fairs high schools community events and on-campus programs.
  • Build and sustain relationships with high school counselors community organizations coaches and other influencers to generate and convert prospective student leads.
  • Conduct timely and strategic post-event follow-up to maximize conversion and yield.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Financial Aid Advising Housing Athletics and other campus partners to remove enrollment barriers and support student success as needed.
  • Share market feedback competitor intelligence and common objections with enrollment leadership to inform recruitment strategies.
  • Participate in ongoing sales coaching professional development training and performance reviews.
  • Practice transparent ethical recruitment in alignment with institutional policies state and federal regulations and Fort Lewis Colleges mission to serve diverse and underrepresented populations.
  • Maintain knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility requirements including the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 508.
  • Produce and remediate digitally accessible materials in accordance with Fort Lewis College standards.

Required Education Specialized Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of higher education enrollment funnels yield management recruitment processes and performance-driven admissions or sales environments within competitive recruitment markets.
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution.
  • Strong persuasive communication skills particularly via phone email and virtual platforms; ability to manage time territory and pipeline effectively.
  • Goal-oriented resilient adaptable and student-centered with a commitment to ethical recruitment practices.
  • 3 or more years of experience in sales admissions enrollment management recruitment or a performance-based role.
  • Willingness to travel and work evenings/weekends during peak recruitment periods.
  • Understand the importance of KPIs in Academic Sales.

Preferred Education Specialized Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of enrollment funnels recruitment processes and performance-based sales or admissions environments.
  • Higher education admissions or enrollment sales practices; yield management and competitive recruitment markets.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g. Slate) and reporting tools.
  • Other characteristics such as personal characteristics
  • Familiarity with enrollment funnels yield management and competitive recruitment markets.
  • Experience working with first-generation Native American or underrepresented students.
  • Bilingual proficiency.

Travel:

Travel will vary by assigned territory; however approximately 20% of the role will require travel. Some night and weekend work is expected as necessary to meet demand.

  • Typical work hours are 8am-5pm mountain time Monday through Friday.

Salary

The salary range is $57000 to $62000 and a comprehensive benefits package
