We are looking for an experienced Plant/Process Engineer for our Pulp & Paper Segment to support the Washougal WA production facility by performing various engineering tasks as directed by the plant manager.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Improving chemical production and utility processes.
  • Collaborating with production staff to improve safety quality and efficiency.
  • Leading process safety activities including:

*Management of Change

*Process hazard analysis

*Pre-start up reviews

*Root Cause Analysis and corrective actions for process incidents.

  • Training personnel on new / changed processes.
  • Providing technical and process safety support for new / experimental product trials.
  • Developing and updating operating procedures P&IDs engineering records.
  • Supporting or leading capital projects.
  • Assisting with creation of SOPs for new and existing equipment and processes as needed.
  • Developing competency to fill in for team members as needs arise.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Chemical or Mechanical engineering degree
  • 3 years of experience with chemical manufacturing involving batch reactions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (English).
  • Demonstrated track record of self-motivation and skills growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks/ projects simultaneously within tight timeframes.
  • Strong interactive skills with all levels of plant organization.
  • Willingness to travel when required.
  • Demonstrated Process Engineering and project support skillset including:

Process troubleshooting Process Hazard Analysis leadership

Equipment sizing & specification PFD development

Equipment startup & commissioning Automation & controls knowledge

Project scope development Design safety reviews

Contractor management Equipment ordering

The starting salary range for consideration for this position is $110000 to $120000 per year with opportunities for performance-based bonuses. The actual starting salary is determined by various factors including but not limited to relevant employment history & experience skill set/competencies qualifications and other business and organizational needs. We also offer acomprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance paid time off life/disability insurance and a 401k retirement plan (which includes a company match).
