SUMMARY The Hospital Client Transport Driver will be transporting clients to and from clinics. The Hospital Client Transport Driver will also be booking clinic runs and ramp/child seats by completing the associated paperwork. The role will also require the employee to process and deliver mail throughout the main Holland Bloorview building. The employee will work with Building Services personnel and independently as required to complete other assigned tasks. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Transports clients in a safe and competent manner in the GTA (e.g. Hospital for Sick Children) and areas outside of the GTA
- Driver completes a vehicle safety circle check on booked vehicle every 24hrs
- Safely board clients operate wheelchair lift anchor the clients wheelchair and then install vehicle/anchor system safety seat belts on clients wheelchair in the vehicles
- Report any safety concerns/repairs to the Director Building Facilities
- Complete Building Services work assignments either independently or in conjunction with other Building Services staff as assigned
- Ensure all licenses and inspections are current and filed
- Transportation of equipment and supplies
- Process and deliver both external and internal mail
- Ensure all routine maintenance is completed as per maintenance schedule.
- Support Building Services department as required
- Perform other duties as required
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES - Previous experience transporting persons with disabilities preferred
- Current valid G Class licence
- Experience working with children and young adults
- Drivers abstract/record clear of uninsurable infractions required
- Proficient communication skills required to verbally communicate with clients and family members throughout transportation process and to communicate with colleagues either verbally or in writing to accomplish work objectives
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook
- Ability to prioritize and work in fast paced environment
- C.P.R. and First Aid Certification required
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS Requires the completion of assigned responsibilities both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Requires the pushing of wheelchairs stretchers and minor lifting. Requires the maintenance and operation of motor vehicles. | Required Experience:
