DescriptionThe Gulli Lab a new systems neuroscience lab at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking a Technical Specialist (infrastructure specialist) for a part-time position. This individual will be a key contributor to our labs technical infrastructure responsible for designing building and maintaining the custom-built research systems that are essential for our science.
Responsibilities- Designing and building high-performance computer systems optimized for virtual reality real-time data acquisition from multiple sources (electrophysiology video physiological sensors) and large-scale data analysis.
- Integrating diverse hardware and software into cohesive research platforms.
- Managing our labs local network data storage and backup solutions to ensure data integrity and accessibility.
- Troubleshooting technical issues across our research rigs to maximize experimental uptime.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Technical training; Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related discipline is preferred.
- Microsoft Windows certification preferred
- 2 years of experience of either technical support or programming/systems experience in end user computing applications or an equivalent combination of education and work experience in end user computing applications and network-based PC/workstation systems or relevant applicable experience.
- Demonstrated experience building networking and maintaining computer systems.
- An ability to work independently to diagnose and resolve complex technical problems.
- A strong interest in applying technical skills to advance biomedical research.
- Proficiency in coding (MATLAB Python C# and/or bash scripting) is a major plus but not required.
