Join us as an Information Analyst and help shape the future of cancer care through data-driven insights. Youll turn raw data into powerful stories that guide decisions at Te Aho o Te Kahu. From analysing cancer datasets to creating interactive data dashboards your work will make a real impact.

Youll collaborate with our sector partners tailor information products and publish high-priority statistics that matter. Using your analytical skills and project know-how youll deliver clear actionable insights while fostering strong relationships across health agencies.

  • Deliver highquality analysis and insights: Use advanced analytical toolsincluding SNOMED CT ontology-based analyticsto extract analyse interpret and report on cancerrelated datasets.

  • Create accessible information products: Develop and publish data products such as reports analyses and interactive R Shiny dashboards for internal and external audiences.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders: Work closely with clients and sector partners to understand their needs develop fitforpurpose knowledge products and ensure information is clear accurate and meaningful.

  • Advance data quality and understanding: Build deep knowledge of key cancer datasets support stakeholders in interpreting published information and ensure data is processed cleansed and validated to the highest standard.

  • Strengthen equity and system improvement: Embed equity considerations and Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations in all work contribute to improving D&A tools and processes and support monitoring frameworks that inform key programmes and service development.

Ko pūkenga - What youll bring

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (or equivalent experience) and strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret and present complex numerical data clearly.

  • Proficiency in SQL R or Python with a preference for experience in R/R Shiny; knowledge of SNOMED CT (training provided) and AI/ML concepts is an advantage.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholderengagement skills including gathering requirements and translating technical insights for diverse audiences.

  • Strong project planning time management and data quality skillsable to cleanse validate and deliver highquality analysis to deadlines.

  • An understanding of Māori tikanga and kawa and a commitment to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equity principles in all work.

Te Aho o Te Kahu the Cancer Control Agency provides national leadership for and oversight of cancer control.

Te Aho o Te Kahu takes a whole-of-system focus on preventing and managing cancer and oversees system-wide prioritisation and coordination of cancer care in New Zealand. It is accountable for ensuring transparency of progress towards the goals and outcomes in the National Cancer Action Plan. Te Aho o Te Kahu is equity-led knowledge-driven person/whānau-centred and outcomes focused.

The Data and Analytics (D&A) Team will lead the implementation of an integrated approach to collect analyse and communicate high quality cancer data to drive planning quality improvement and monitoring activities across the cancer sector.
