What Youll Do

The UPF Work Control Manager is responsible for successful nuclear and non-nuclear work control operations for the UPF Maintenance organization and reports to the UPF Maintenance Senior Manager.

  • Lead Work Control Planners and Specialists in equipment analysis testing operability and asset management work control policies per conduct of operations in nuclear facilities established procedures and precepts of Integrated Safety Management.
  • Oversee the identification and correction of system deficiencies on production and facility equipment within nuclear and nonnuclear facilities to ensure safe and efficient maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure accuracy in the interpretation of drawings and designs to meet site conditions manage those that are responsible for correcting technical issues and monitor technical submittals and configuration management as required for nuclear facilities.
  • Manage assigned resources on procedures concerning high hazard identifications in a nuclear environment nuclear work control policies and ensuring mission success for required site deliverables.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to ensure successful completion of current and future mission deliverables as it pertains to planned work requests for optimum maintenance craft utilization and schedule adherence.
  • Manage the performance of direct reports per organizational metrics analysis and ensure procedures are followed to ensure continuous improvement in work control practices.
  • Ensure Work Control personnel are trained and qualified to perform assigned responsibilities for high hazard nuclear conditions.
  • Outstanding people skills with the ability to energize organize coordinate and lead groups assigned to the Work Control organization.
  • Provide direction on organizational goals and procedures for the asset management and work control process for the Y-12 site.
  • Advanced computing skills including Microsoft Office Suite and components of CMMS (SAP).

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree: Minimum 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Fifteen or more years of relevant education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting.
  • In addition the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e. High School diploma and 3 years nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).

Preferred Job Requirements

  • Certified Maintenance and Repair Professional (CMRP) certification.
  • Work Control leadership experience.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.

This position may require entry into the Material Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (10 C.F.R. Part 712) which requires successful competition of a DOE counterintelligence evaluation and may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination.

This position may be categorized as a designated position identified by 10 C.F.R. Part 709 requiring successful completion of a DOE counterintelligence evaluation that may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination.
