Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design KLAs Global Products Group (GPG) which is responsible for creating all of KLAs metrology and inspection products is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist software engineers application development engineers and senior product technology process engineers. First to deliver the best imaging and classification data for every defect or point on any layer at any time. EBeams mission encapsulates its role as the eyes of KLAs product line providing timely information on defects and critical locations on the wafer at the highest spatial resolution possible. Customers use EBeam products alongside KLA patterned and bare wafer inspectors to quickly understand the nature of defects and other imperfections on product wafers and take action to correct the manufacturing process.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovativeEngineer with deep expertise inSEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy)-based voltage contrast imaging and device physics. This role is pivotal in bridging advanced SEM-based voltage contrast techniques with the evolving needs of semiconductor manufacturers acrossLogic DRAM and NANDtechnologies.

The ideal candidate will work closely with leading chipmakers to understand their process challenges and developcustomized voltage contrast solutionsthat enhance defect detection yield analysis and process control. Based in Milpitas CA the Applications Development Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Collaborate with semiconductor customers to understand their device circuit process flows and failure analysis needs.
  • Develop and optimizevoltage contrast imaging techniquesusing SEM for advanced logic and memory technologies.
  • Translate complexdevice physicsandprocess technologyknowledge into actionable imaging strategies and correlate with customer yield challenges.
  • Design and execute experiments to validate voltage contrast methods on customer wafers.
  • Provide technical leadership inapplications development including documentation training and customer support.
  • Interface with internal R&D and product teams to guide tool enhancements and roadmap alignment.
  • Present findings and solutions to customers internal stakeholders and at industry conferences.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters or Ph.D. in Materials Science Physics Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 10 years industry experience in semiconductor inspection strategies with focus on voltage contrast imaging applications.
  • Expertise in semiconductor process flows in advanced semiconductor manufacturing nodes (including Gate-All-Around DRAM and 3DNAND structures).
  • Proficiency in circuit tracing simulations and modeling for semiconductor structures.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
