Specific Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for the implementation and management of the Microsoft Windows server infrastructure and the VMware infrastructure that it runs on. These systems support the applications for production and business work at CNS. Will work with all levels of CNS employees to implement maintain and support the most efficient cost-effective set of solutions for CNS in the underlying Windows server architecture. Will work in a team environment to coordinate implement and support changes to the environment using technical tools and processes to maintain consistency availability and stability in performance and function. This position will also work closely with Cyber to validate and configure STIG baselines.
Additional responsibilities include:
Keep pace with technical advancements within computing infrastructure and supporting software. Incorporate new technologies as appropriate.
Determines specifications input/output processes and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility and maintenance.
Manage MS Windows software configurations for the most efficient operation in a secure manner to meet DOE/NNSA requirements.
Managing a VMware environment including hardware/software configuration and vSAN
When scheduled provide off hour support of the environment as required.
Manage enterprise computing environments including applicable enterprise software and hardware configurations utilizing enterprise tools and best practice methods.
Hardens Server Disaster Recovery VMware and Storage technologies for security purposes.
Troubleshoots issues and works with other technical and functional personnel to complete problem resolution.
Performs application and system updates following an approved change control process.
Develops and/or implements system monitoring tools and strategies for monitoring accountable systems and ensures optimum system availability.
When necessary lead efforts to define functional requirements; conduct detailed analysis of alternative solutions and make/buy options; design complex system enhancements and interfaces; develop prototype systems to refine design and requirements; document design and detailed specifications; develop data models and related data structures; plan for configuration control testing security and quality assurance.
When required serve as technical staff advisor for projects tasks or functions.
Perform system test and validations; verify system expectations and requirements; ensure system operation; perform enhancements and improvements.
Ensure that all appropriate implementation procedures are developed and/or followed in a routine basis.
Ensure that all appropriate operating procedures contingency plans and security policies are developed and/or followed on a routine basis.
